Light for Today
THE NEED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS
And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to
Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; WALK BEFORE ME, and be thou
perfect. Gen. 17:1
Gone
are the days when Christianity was strictly equated to righteousness. I have
just received an email from a supposed Christian whose husband has died and
left millions of pounds in some account that requires my “secret” help to
retrieve.
Some
people these days use the name of God to enhance their criminal deeds while
others only “greedily” believe that because HE is a God of prosperity, one need
not to worry about how that prosperity comes about.
The
result is what we see today when the world cannot differentiate between itself
and the body of Christ. Believers have various reasons why some sins no longer
matter. Genesis 17:1 however quotes a God who expects everyone who walks with
him to walk perfectly (totally righteous).
David said that the Lord would not listen to
him if he had regarded iniquity in his heart. Sin is sin, name it, shame it and
depart from it. There is no other way to be a child of God than the pursuit of
righteousness (perfection)!
Enjoy your day and remember, we love you!
