(Yea, a
sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of
many hearts may be revealed.
Luke 2:35.
In Luke 2:22-35, we read the story of the
presentation of Jesus in the temple. During this ceremony, Simeon spoke of Jesus
and what things he would do and go through. That was when he spoke the
words in verse 22 to Mary. At that time, however Mary might
have taken it lightly. Bur as the days of Jesus began to enfold , she starting
realizing what kind of son she had brought forth.
It was at the cross that the
worst happened to her as she saw her son mocked and bruised .She saw him go
through all that agony, and was finally nailed to the cross. Mothers more than
anybody else can so easily align themselves with the pain that
might have gone through her. Literally a sword pierce through
her soul and how excruciating that was.
In life sometimes, we have “swords piercing
through our sides”. And in some cases that is our lot to carry. It was no fault
of Mary’s. Life throws curves at us sometimes and you have
no clue how or why.
Have you ever had some body tell lies about
you?
Have you ever experience the lost of a
valuable thing? Or the lost of a dear one?
Has there been a sword through your side
?
Remember Mary experienced the same thing.
Thank God she had John for her
‘replacement’ But can there be a replacement to a son?
When we are sure that we do not have any
hand in the pain coming to us, We can rest assured that God is still on the
throne and that He is working some thing beautiful out for your good.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to
them who are the called according to his purpose.” Rom 8:28
