STANDING JUST BECAUSE OF THE GRACE

And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.                                  Luke 22:34                                                  

Can you imagine that Peter would have denied the Lord just some few hours after Our Lord Jesus had prophesied his denial of him. Just hear him swear he did not know him!! Oh what a shame that was and how true. In view of how loud mouth and vehement he was against the prophecy no one expected that of him. Even before we get tempted to think of Peter as being undependable and untrustworthy, let’s stop to think for a moment.

 Are we sure Peter is the only one in this situation? Could it be that we ourselves have in just a little way treated our Saviour that way before? I believe on numerous occasions we have. What then do we learn from it? 

It is not by might ,nor by power, but by the spirit of the lord        (Zechariah 4:6)

We are not sufficient within ourselves to do anything good. Our sufficiency is of God.(2Corinthians 3:5)

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels , that the Excellency of the power may be of God and not of us (2 Corinthians 4: 6)

 We would therefore be wise to always pray the prayer of the psalmist in Psalm 123: 1-3. We are purely because of God’s GRACE.

As the servants look up to you and as the maids look up to you, so Lord do we also  look up to you in every thing that pertains to life and godliness. Help us

Lord in Jesus’ name. Amen.
